Carroll "C.B." Beringer pitched in the minors from 1946 to 1960, missing he 1951-1952 seasons due to military service. He was Texas League Pitcher of the Year in 1959 but never made the majors as a player. After retiring in 1960, he was the Los Angeles Dodgers batting practice pitcher from 1961 to 1966 and coach in 1967-1972. He went on to coach the Philadelphia Phillies in 1973-1978.
