Carmelo Martinez played for the National League Champions, San Diego Padres in 1984. In 2007 Martinez was coach of the AZL Cubs and in 2008-2009 he is the Chicago Cubs' Latin American Field Coordinator. He is a cousin of Edgar Martínez.
