Carlos Monasterios was in his first professional season in the New York Yankees system, having pitched 7 games, 3 of which were starts, for the GCL Yankees when he was traded to the Philadelphia Phillies in the Bobby Abreu trade on July 30, 2006. Following the deal he was assigned to the GCL Phillies, where he made 3 more starts and one relief apperance. Carlos started the 2007 season with the Lakewood Blue Claws where he went 11-11 with a 4.62 ERA. In 2009, he made the Florida State League All-Star team with the Clearwater Threshers, for whom he went 5-6, 3.73 in 35 games. He was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the Rule V draft after the season.
Monasterios made his major league debut with the Dodgers on April 5, 2010, pitching a perfect inning in relief against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
