[edit] Biographical Information
Carlos Lezcano played in the majors in 1980-81. More recently, he has managed in the minors for many years.
Cousin of Sixto Lezcano, Carlos was, like Sixto, born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. Carlos played in the minors from 1977-84, hitting .326 for Midland in 1979. He showed moderate power with a high of 19 home runs for Wichita in 1980.
The Chicago Cubs' opening day center fielder in 1980, Lezcano played in 42 games at the major league level that season, hitting .205. He also had some appearances in 1981.
Lezcano has now managed for three different organizations in the Arizona League in a minor league managing career that is getting close to 20 years.
Was named California League Manager of the Year in 2010 after guiding the Lake Elsinore Storm to the league's best record.
