Catcher Carl Nichols was signed as a 4th round pick in the 1980 amateur draft by the Baltimore Orioles and scout Larry Himes.
Nichols is the uncle of Ray Lankford. After his retirement, he became a coach at Major League Baseball's Urban Youth Academy in Compton, CA.
