Carl Miles pitched two games for the 1940 Philadelphia Athletics. At age 22, he had been at the University of Missouri during the years 1938-40, and his major league debut was on June 8.
It had been over a decade since a player from the University of Missouri had made his debut in the majors.
He also pitched several years for Trenton, going 13-7 in 1941.
