Carl Mathias pitched in the majors in 1960 and 1961.
The book Baseball in Reading has a photo of Mathias, and says he pitched six no-hitters while at Oley Township High School. He was also a basketball star there. He played American Legion ball as well.
An article about Mathias recalled that he was the only one of 54 prospects from his D league team that made the majors. He still lived in Oley, PA at age 73. His career ended when he developed rotator cuff problems, and he became a pipe-fitter.
