The Canton-Akron Indians were members of the Eastern League from 1989, when they moved from Burlington, Vermont, through 1996. When Akron built a $30.7 million stadium, the team left Canton and became the Akron Aeros.
Among the more recognizable names in team history (in retrospect) are Albert Belle (then called Joey Belle) ('89), Jim Thome ('91-'92), Brian Giles ('92-'93), Richie Sexson ('96) and Bartolo Colon ('96).
