Cal Drummond began his umpiring career in the Alabama State League in 1948. He was out of O.B. for three years, returning in the Georgia State League in 1952-1953. He worked the South Atlantic League in 1954-1956 and the International League in 1957-1959. Drummond was an American League umpire from 1960 to 1969.
