Biographical Information
Right-hander Cal Dorsett signed as a free agent with the Cleveland Indians in 1940. He spent parts of three seasons with the Municipal Stadium club in 1940, '41 and '47 with an 0-1 record.
Dorsett also spent nine seasons in the minor leagues from 1937 to 1949, ending with a 79-77 record and a 3.77 ERA. His best season came in 1947 when he went 15-10 with a 2.38 ERA for the Oklahoma City Indians of the Texas League.
Dorsett spent four seasons in the United States Military (1942-1945), serving with the Marines in the Pacific Theater of War, during World War II.
After baseball, Dorsett managed the Dr. Pepper bottling plant in Elk City, OK until his death from a heart attack on October 22, 1970 at Community Hospital in Elk City. He was 57 years old.
