Buzzy Keller graduated from Texas Lutheran College in 1955. He played in the minor leagues in 1955 and 1958. He would later spend 11 years as the head coach at his alma mater, as well as spending 1966 to 1970 as athletic director.
Keller was an instructor for, and eventually ran, the Kansas City Royals Baseball Academy. Hw also spent time as a minor league instructor for the St. Louis Cardinals.
Keller was a scout for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Texas Rangers, and was the Pirates' Director of Player Development in 1989.
