[edit] Biographical Information
Buzz Murphy was the fourth outfielder on the 1919 Senators, getting into 79 games. He had previously played nine games for the 1918 Braves, slugging .719.
With the Senators, he was seven years younger than teammate Walter Johnson.
He was the first major leaguer with the first name "Buzz", although there had previously been a "Buzzy" (Buzzy Wares). After Murphy came seven major leaguers (through 2008) with the first name Buzz, with the last being Buzz Capra in the 1970's. Murphy's real first name was Robert, however.
He also played several years for Des Moines.
