[edit] Biographical Information
Buzz Capra began his major league career with the New York Mets in September of 1971. He pitched in 41 games over 2+ seasons for New York, winning 5 of them. On May 13, 1972, he recorded a 1-0 win in a game in which his first major league RBI was the only run. Buzz was also a member of the Mets' 1973 National League championship team.
Capra was sold to the Atlanta Braves in 1974. After a fine 1974 campaign in which he won 16 games and had a National League-leading 2.28 ERA, Capra was beset by arm trouble and ended his career in 1977.
He spent over twenty years as a professional pitching coach in several minor league systems, most recently with the Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets. One of his stops was the 1987 Burlington Expos.
Capra is currently an instructor at the Fox Valley Sports Academy in Elgin, IL.
