[edit] Biographical Information
Butch Davis was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the 12th round of the 1980 amateur draft. In his first taste of the major leagues, in 1983, he hit .344 with 6 triples in 33 games for the Royals, but never again came close to matching those numbers in 7 other seasons in the majors. His next-highest batting average was .245, with the Texas Rangers in 1993, and he failed to hit .200 in 4 of his 9 seasons.
