After the 2006 season, the Burlington Indians of the Appalachian League became a Kansas City Royals affiliate known as the Burlington Royals. The team's home is Burlington Athletic Park in Burlington, North Carolina. Darryl Kennedy was named as manager of the inaugural team with coaches Jon Williams and Jose Bautista.
