North Carolina native Bunky Stewart played for the New Bern Bears of the Coastal Plain League, pitching a no-hitter and winning 17 consecutive games that season. He went on to play for the Washington Senators in parts of five seasons.
He also spent five seasons with Chattanooga.
After his playing days, he worked in retail and as a realtor. He died at age 76.
