Bruce Hines was drafted in the 15th round of the 1979 amateur draft by the Milwaukee Brewers. In 1980 he was named First Team All-SCIAC at the University of La Verne, then was drafted in the 18th round of the 1980 amateur draft by the San Diego Padres.
Hines managed the Salem Angels in 1985-1986, the AZL Athletics in 1992-1993 (League champs both years), the AZL Angels in 1995-1996, and the Vancouver Canadians in 1997. He was also a coach for Angels in 1991. Since at least 2005 he has been the field coordinator for the minor leagues for the Los Angeles Angels.
