Bruce Aven was a regular outfielder on the 1999 Florida Marlins, hitting .289 with 12 home runs in 137 games. Although he played for five seasons in the majors, 1999 constituted more than half of his appearances.

Bruce's professional career stretched from 1994 to 2003 with six different organizations, including twice with the Cleveland Indians organization. He was up briefly with the Indians in 1997 and again in 2002.

  • Had elbow ligament-transplant surgery in 1998.
  • Supposedly, he used to wrestle alligators in his home state of Texas.
  • He hit the Florida Marlins's first-ever pinch-hit grand slam.
  • On August 27, 2000, he hit his two home runs in one game-August 27th against the Chicago Cubs.
