Pitcher Brian Ryder was drafted in the 1st round of the 1978 amateur draft by the New York Yankees. In December of 1981 he was traded with a player to named for Ken Griffey Sr.. The Yankees later sent Freddie Toliver to complete the deal. Ryder never made the majors.
