Brian Denman, a 1978 first-round pick in the secondary phase, came to the majors with the 1982 Red Sox and won three games.
He had gone 15-3 in the minors in 1981 after having a 36-15 record during his first three minor league seasons. During 1982 in the minors, he was 10-4.
1982 was also the rookie year for Wade Boggs, who had previously been a teammate of Denman at a couple of minor league stops.
Brian had been at the University of Minnesota from 1975-77 along with Paul Molitor.
