The son of Rick Lysander, pitcher Brent Lysander debuted professionally in 2007 after an excellent college campaign that year.
Lysander had gone 10-2 with a 1.48 ERA in 2007, earning honors as an ABCA Division II All-American. He was selected by the Oakland Athletics in the 16th round of the 2007 amateur draft and made his pro debut that summer with the Vancouver Canadians, going 2-1 with a 3.35 ERA in 16 games.
