Brent Abernathy won an Olympic gold medal for the United States in the 2000 Sydney Olympics. He hit .412 for the USA in the round-robin phase of the 1995 World Junior Championship to finish third behind Davide Dallospedale and Cheng-Min Peng. He joined teammate Eric Valent and Yoandry Garlobo as the All-Star outfield selections.
He primarily wore number 3 during his Major League career.
