In his big league debut, Brandon Lyon retired the last 14 members of the Baltimore Orioles he faced. He won the game, 2-1.
Lyon pitched well for the Houston Astros in 2010, saving 20 games to claim the closer's job. However, the following year, he had to undergo surgery on his pitching shoulder on June 29, 2011, putting him out for the remainder of the season. He was 3-3 with an 11.48 ERA in 15 games at the time, his numbers ruined by three very difficult outings when he tried to pitch between stints on the disabled list.
