The brother of Keith Comstock, pitcher Brad Comstock went to high school in San Carlos, California and attended Cañada College and San Francisco State University. In 1987, he pitched in the San Francisco Giants farm system for the Everett Giants in the Northwest League, and he spent the next summer with the Fresno Suns of the California League. He retired early in spring training 1989 due to a severe knee injury.

Comstock now resides in Santa Clara, California and is a small business owner. He married Mary Jane Carter on February 10, 1990, and they have two children, Valerie and Rachel.
