Shortstop Bobby Durnbaugh played in just two games in the majors and only came to the plate once during his short big league career.
Signed by the Cincinnati Reds in 1951, Durnbaugh worked his way through their chain, spending two seasons with the Nashville Volunteers of the Southern Association. A September callup with the Redlegs (as they were officially known then) in 1957, he made his big league debut on September 22nd against the St. Louis Cardinals, entering the game at shortstop in the bottom of the ninth inning. Five days later, facing the Milwaukee Braves, he replaced shortstop Roy McMillan in the fifth inning. He got his only major-league at-bat in the top of the eighth, facing Lew Burdette as the inning's leadoff hitter and grounding out.
Durnbaugh was back with Nashville in 1958 and 1959 and then spent 1961 in the Kansas City Athletics chain.
One source says he still lives in Dayton, OH, where he was born.
