Bob Wells was a minor league player and manager who led one team to a league championship.
A catcher during his playing days, Wells hit .297 with three home runs in 728 games over 14 seasons. He played from 1911 to 1930 with a few interruptions in-between, experiencing his best season in 1922, when he hit .362 in 112 games for the Grand Rapids Billbobs. That year, he led the league in batting average for part of the season, though he was eventually eclipsed by Leo Payne.
He managed the Grand Rapids Billbobs (1922-1923), Terre Haute Tots (1927), Springfield Midgets (1928) and Frederick Warriors (1929-1930). In 1922, he led the Billbobs to the Central League championship.
