[edit] Biographical Information

Pitcher Bob Weiland threw a shutout in his first major league game with the Chicago White Sox on September 30, 1928 and got a hit as well. After stints with the White Sox, Boston Red Sox, Cleveland Indians, and St. Louis Browns, he moved on to the St. Louis Cardinals, becoming a vital part of their rotation from 1937 to 1939.

Following his baseball career, Weiland became an auto parts salesman. He died in 1988 at age 82. Most sites list him as the brother of fellow pitcher Ed Weiland, but that is not correct, according to Bob's daughter who contacted SABR with this information.
