[edit] Biographical Information
The New York Yankees were on the losing end of one of the worst deals in the 1980's. After the 1981 season, the St. Louis Cardinals traded Bob Sykes to the Yankees for outfielder Willie McGee. McGee went on to be a huge contributor for the Cards the next several years, winning the 1985 National League Most Valuable Player award and making the All-Star team four times; Sykes never played in the majors again.
Bob Sykes now spends time teaching pitching, fielding, catching, and batting to youth at "The Ballyard" in a small town in Southern Illinois.
