[edit] Biographical Information
Bob Mavis did not make his professional baseball debut until he was 26 years old. He played with the Little Rock Travelers of the Southern Association from 1944 to 1948 and hit above .300 in each of his seasons with the club. He hit .301 for AAA Toledo in 1949 and was called up by the Detroit Tigers in September. He appeared in just one game, as a pinch runner. After his playing career ended, he managed for several years.
He was also a scout for the Tigers until 1968 and the Seattle Pilots/Milwaukee Brewers from 1969 to 1973.
