[edit] Biographical Information

Bob Groom pitched ten years in the majors. Although he three times led the league in losses, he also had 119 wins. His best season was 1912 when he went 24-13.

Groom also won 20+ games several times in the minors, with a peak of 29 victories in 1908 with Portland.

A New York Times article from the winter of 1911 indicates that Groom was studying medicine at Saint Louis University then. He was a hold-out at the time, asking for more money in his contract.
