[edit] Biographical Information
Pitcher Bob Grim missed the 1952 and 1953 seasons due to military service. He returned to become the last American League rookie to win 20 games. In 1954, he went 20-6 with a 3.26 ERA for the New York Yankees en route to winning the AL Rookie of the Year Award. While no one has repeated his feat in the AL, Tom Browning won 20 games as a rookie in the National League in 1985.
