[edit] Biographical Information

On July 8, 1953 Pitcher Bob Conley was signed as an amateur free agent by the Philadelphia Phillies. He had a short 1953 season appearing in six games and going 1-1 for the class A Schenectady Blue Jays.

He would spend the next few years working his way up through the Philadelphia farm system and in 1958 after winning 12 games and having a .294 ERA for the AAA Miami Marlins he got his shot at the majors with two late season starts for the Phillies in which he gave up seven runs in eight innings.

He finished out his pro baseball career in 1959 and '60 with the Buffalo Bisons, Miami Marlins and the Chattanooga Lookouts, winning 3 and losing 5 with a near 6.00 ERA.

Conley had spent eight seasons in profesional baseball from 1953 through 1960 and asides from his tough luck in his major league look, his stats from the minors are very decent. He appeared in 164 games, winning 68 and losing 53, pitching 910 innings, allowing 864 base hits along with 328 base on balls for a 3.73 career ERA.

Conley was later in the restaurant business, and his last known residence was in Palisades Park, NJ.
