[edit] Biographical Information
Bob Langsford, from Louisville, KY, played one game for the 1899 Louisville Colonels. He was 33 years old and it was the team's last year as a major league entry.
He was not, however, the oldest player on the team, as Chief Zimmer and Dummy Hoy were several years older.
Langsford played for quite a few minor league teams, rarely staying in the same place two years in a row. He did, however, play parts of three seasons for New Orleans.
The book Baseball in Toledo has a set of photos of the 1897 league champion Mud Hens, and Langsford's photo is included.
