[edit] Biographical Information

Blaine Thomas holds the career record for most games started (2) without allowing an earned run to score. Pitching 4.2 innings for the 1911 Boston Red Sox Thomas started two games late in the season with no decisions and gave up no earned runs in the innings pitched. Blaine was in fast company in the 12 days he was with the Red Sox as the team featured all-time greats, Smoky Joe Wood and Al Cicotte. However the Red Sox finished fourth in the American League this season with a 78-75 record.

Thomas had been with the Victoria, BC team of the class B Northwestern League earlier in the 1911 year and carried a 7-11 record in 18 games before making his initial appearance with the big league club. Blaine would start the 1912 season with the Sacramento Sacts of the Pacific Coast League, lose his only decision and leave the game of baseball with a 7-12 minor league record.

Blaine M. Thomas would die just a few years later at the age of 27 from a Pulmonary Hemorrhage at the Herron Hotel in Payson, AZ, on August 21, 1915.
