After the 2006 season, coach Brian Shoop left to become head coach at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Birmingham-Southern was a member of the NAIA through 2001, then jumped all the way up to the NCAA's division-I from 2002 to 2006. BSC then dropped from D-I to D-III in 2007.
