[edit] Biographical Information
Bing Miller was well named. Anytime he hit a ball it went places. He hit over .300 eight times in the American League and in 1932 he hit for a .295 average in 95 games. Bing played four years in the minors before getting a real chance to play in the majors. He would go up with the Washington Senators in 1921 but was traded to the Philadelphia Athletics in '22. Miller was traded to St. Louis Browns in 1926, but went back to the Athletics in 1928 and would finish out his pro baseball years with the Boston Red Sox in 1936. Bing wound up his major league run of 16 seasons appearing in 1,820 games with a .311 average including 116 home runs. His five years in the minors netted Bing a .309 average with 42 home runs in 364 games. Bing retired at age 41 with 21 seasons under his belt. Bing passed away on May 7, 1966 at the age of 75 in Philadelphia, PA.
