Billy Reid was one of several players from London, Ontario who were approximately the same age and came to the majors at the approximately the same time. Most of them played in the American Association.

Reid played in the Association in 1883-84. Bill Mountjoy was in the Association in 1883-85. Jon Morrison was there in 1884 and again in 1887. Steve Dunn was in the Union Association in 1884.
