William Reed Summers

Bill Summers was a professional umpire for 38 years. He began his career in the Eastern League from 1921 to 1932, and the International League in 1932, before debuting in the American League in 1933.

As an American league arbiter, Summers represented the league at the All Star Game a record seven times. He also worked 47 games over eight World Series. His final game in blue was the last game of the 1959 World Series between the Dodgers and White Sox.
