Bill McCarthy attended Fordham University in 1905, so his game in 1905 in the majors was right after getting out of school. He was the youngest player in the majors in 1905. He didn't play in college in 1906 or 1907, and came back to the majors in 1907.
He died shortly before his 42nd birthday.
