[edit] Biographical Information

Before becoming a pitcher for the 1938 Boston Red Sox, Humphrey had tried out with both the St. Louis Browns and Cardinals as a catcher. He won 20 and lost 7 with Charlotte in 1935 and won 16 and lost 7 with Little Rock in 1937. He supposedly had excellent control in the minors, walking a mere 38 men in 193 innings in 1937.
