From 1981-1986, he worked the Pacific Coast League, spending the winter of 1982-1983 in the Puerto Rican League. He was promoted to the International League in 1987 and to the majors in 1989. He worked the 1994 All-Star Game. He resigned in 1999 as part of the Major League Umpires Association but returned to the big leagues in 2002.
