Brother of Hugh Hill, Still Bill Hill was on the 1897 Louisville Colonels when Honus Wagner broke in, and was on the 1898 Cincinnati Reds when Harry Steinfeldt broke in. He was also with perhaps the worst major league team of all time, the 1899 Cleveland Spiders. His winning percentage of .333 was much better than the team's winning percentage.
After baseball he worked for the Cincinnati police department.
A member of the Baseball List of Rhyming Names, along with such notables as Don Hahn, Larry Sherry, Paul Schaal, Greg Legg, Lu Blue, and Mark Clark.
