[edit] Biographical Information
Bill Haywood was the coach at Western Carolina University from 1969 to 1981. He was named assistant director of player development for the Seattle Mariners in 1982.
Haywood was a player/coach for the Burlington Senators in 1969. When Buddy Hicks returned home, Haywood was the interim manager until minor league pitching coach Bert Thiel arrived. Thiel eventually returned to his coaching post and Haywood resumed the managerial reigns.
