Biographical Information[edit]

After five seasons with the Philadelphia Phillies, Bill Atwood suffered a collarbone injury and never returned to the big leagues. He played a few more seasons with minor league clubs, including the Hollywood Stars of the Pacific Coast League, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Atwood died at age 81 in an automobile accident.

He was the manager of the Sherman-Denison Twins in the Big State League in 1947 and the Ballinger Cats of the Longhorn League in 1948.
