Bill Kling, brother of Johnny Kling, broke in with the 1891 Philadelphia Phillies who were managed by Harry Wright, one of baseball's earliest pioneers who had been managing at least 20 years at that point. The team featured players such as Ed Delahanty, Sam Thompson, and Billy Hamilton.
Kling moved on to the 1892 Baltimore Orioles the next year, a team which featured the 19-year-old John McGraw.
Kling finished up his major league days pitching one game with the 1895 Louisville Colonels.
