Biographical Information
Bill Cristall was the first Major League Baseball player from the Ukraine. His 4.84 ERA in the first year of the new major-league American League was not impressive, but as a hitter he was able to post a .350 batting average.
He played for Toledo in 1903-04. The February 8, 1908 issue of Sporting Life indicates that Troy was trying to acquire him from New Orleans, and that he had previously played for Albany and Syracuse.
He won over 100 games in the minors in a career that stretched from 1898 to 1917
He is included in the Jewish Major Leaguers Upper Deck baseball card collection.
He is one of three major leaguers from Odessa, Ukraine.
