"Bill Clancy is showing up fine in practice with Pittsburg, and the prediction is freely made that he will have no difficulty in filling Bransfield's shoes." - Sporting Life, March 25, 1905

Bill Clancy played only one season in the majors, but he had 240 plate appearances that year with the 1905 Pittsburgh Pirates, a team which won 96 games. He also spent 11 seasons in the minors, including four with Rochester. He managed in the minors.

Clancy was five years younger than teammate Honus Wagner with the Pirates.
