"Bill Clancy is showing up fine in practice with Pittsburg, and the prediction is freely made that he will have no difficulty in filling Bransfield's shoes." - Sporting Life, March 25, 1905
Bill Clancy played only one season in the majors, but he had 240 plate appearances that year with the Pittsburgh Pirates of 1905, a team which won 96 games. He also spent 11 seasons in the minors, including four with Rochester. He was one of three managers for the Worcester Riddlers/Montreal Royals in 1903.
Clancy was five years younger than teammate Honus Wagner with the Pirates.
