[edit] Biographical Information
Bill Champion was a swingman with the Philadelphia Phillies and Milwaukee Brewers in the 1970s. He started 102 of his 202 pitching appearances and had a 34-50 lifetime record. His best season came with the Brewers in 1974, when he was 11-4, 3.62 in 31 games, with a career-high 161 2/3 innings pitched. He wasn't much of a strikeout artist, however. In his career, he only struck 6 more batters than he walked - 360 to 354.
He later became a scout for the Chicago Cubs, starting in 1983, and signing Drew Hall among others. He later became a pitching coach.
- 2002 Pitching coach Greenville Braves
- 2010 Pitching coach Uni-President Lions
