Bert Thiel, from Wisconsin, began his professional career with Eau Claire in 1947. He was in the minors from 1947-59 and also 1961. He was up in the majors in 1952. Thiel scouted for the Washington Senators (1964-1969) and Atlanta Braves (1971).
