Pitched for Toronto Maple Leafs of the International League in 1934. Pitched for the San Francisco Seals (PCL) in 1935, along with his nephew Bob Cole from Lowell High School. With the batting help of Joe DiMaggio from Galileo High School (SF), they won the PCL championship.
He and Lu Blue were both 24-year-old rookies on the 1921 Detroit Tigers. Cole spent the bulk of his career pitching for the Tigers at a time when Ty Cobb was their manager.
